Hey everyone, has anyone here run into some really surprising sea creatures while bouncing between those far-flung outer islands in the Seychelles? Last year I did a bit of island-hopping out there on a small trip, mostly around spots like Desroches and Alphonse, and one afternoon while we were just drifting in super clear water I spotted this massive whale shark gliding right underneath the boat—felt like the thing could swallow us whole, but it was so chill and gentle. Totally wasn't expecting something that enormous in such shallow-ish areas. Made the whole day feel unreal. Anyone else had weird or unexpected marine encounters out in those remote parts? Like rare rays, odd fish schools, or something popping up out of nowhere? Curious to hear your stories.

Yeah, whale sharks definitely count as a wow moment out there. I had a similar thing happen a couple seasons back when we were cruising between some of the less-visited outer spots—suddenly this huge shadow appeared and it was one cruising slowly with its mouth open filtering stuff. Heart was pounding but in a good way. Also ran across pods of dolphins that kept pace with the boat for ages, jumping like they were showing off, and once a couple of manta rays swooped in during a snorkel stop, wings flapping gracefully. Those outer areas feel so untouched compared to the main islands. If you're planning something like that, checking out a decent offshore fishing zones near the islands fishing trip in seychelles setup makes a big difference for reaching the quiet zones comfortably without the crowds just my two cents from actually doing it a few times. Nothing beats having the freedom to chase sightings on your own schedule.
