The Chiropractors of Mindarie Chiropractic Centre
Mindarie Chiropractor Dr. Natasha A. Lake-Bruno
Welcome to Mindarie Chiropractic! My name is Dr. Natasha Lake, and I am the senior chiropractor and part owner here at Mindarie Chiropractic! I am not a native of Australia, but after spending many years here I consider it to be my second home!
I was born and raised in a small town in Newfoundland, Canada (very cold!). After completing high-school, I left home to continue my post-secondary education at Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada. After four long years I received my Bachelor of Science (Honours in Biology), but I wasn’t finished there!
Originally, my plan was to go to medical school and become a surgeon. While studying pre-med in University, I shadowed many doctors for a while. During that time, it amazed me how often the doctors would just treat the symptoms, but never look into what was actually causing them. I figured, there had to be a better way. That is when I became more interested in finding out more about alternative health care methods. Then, something wonderful happened. I was introduced to Chiropractic! The ideas and philosophies that chiropractors had really appealed to me. So much so that that year I applied to chiropractic school.
I was accepted into the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in the summer of 1999. While at school, I realized the curriculum was very similar to medical school. I took many of the same classes. During my four years at CMCC courses included neuroanantomy, physiology, diagnosis, radiography, adjusting techniques etc., and finished with a year of clinical internship. I also took extra classes in nutrition and acupuncture and received my Diplomate in Acupuncture.
After another four years of school, I received my Doctorate of Chiropractic. Then, I decided that I needed a well deserved break so I set out for Australia (planned on taking a short trip/holiday)! Once I arrived in Perth I started working a little to help out a chiropractor here and have been living and working here ever since! I am current member of the Chiropractic Association of Australia and have already had the privilege of serving on the board for one year as secretary.
Over the years, I've personally experienced the benefits of chiropractic care, not only for a few injuries and symptoms, but primarily as the central part of my overall health and wellness program. I believe in a safe, gentle & effective whole body approach for the treatment of illness and wellness care. In addition to spinal alignment, I believe in integrating exercise, diet and stress management into your treatment plan. At Mindarie Chiropractic we use natural, drug-free methods to maintain your optimal health. One of my favourite quotes is one by Mr. Thomas Edison, “The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.”
My whole life I have felt that your health is the most important thing you can have. Let's face it, if you are not healthy, how can you enjoy life? The thing that most people do not understand is that, there is more to health than just not being sick. Whether you are a child, middle age, or elderly, everyone can be healthy. I believe in treating the whole person, not just the symptoms. I work with you on nutrition, exercise, stress and posture to help correct the issues causing the pain. I love to see the look on people's faces when they talk about how they were finally able to play with their kids or grandkids, or how they were able to play a sport again, go for a run or simply work without any discomfort. Knowing that I was able to help someone enjoy life gives me a sense of meaning and fulfilment.
Chiropractic has given me the opportunity to help so many people in a way I never dreamed possible. I was always interested in health care, but when I discovered chiropractic I knew it was perfect for me. I love giving people the gift of health and teaching them what true health is. I believe every family deserves to enjoy great health and quality of life. I believe that all parents should have their children checked for subluxations from birth and for the rest of their lives so they can express their fullest potential. An ideal practice for me would be full of families and individuals whose goal is the active pursuit of health, not crisis management.
My husband, Dr. Paul Bruno and I own and operate two chiropractic clinics. Between that and caring for our 2 daughters (one being my sept daughter- Marina) and our dog, Elmo keeps us both very busy. Presently, I am on extended maternity leave after giving birth to my first daughter, Adriana Naylah on February 24, 2010. Chiropractic was vital throughout my pregnancy and continues to be today. Being a Mother and learning to care for someone else just emphasized it's importance in our overall health and wellbeing. Adriana and I (and Elmo ha!) usually get adjusted at least once a week. Being a chiropractor and now a Mom is very physical. My body needs frequent fine tuning to stay in shape. I try to take care of myself. The key is in making very well informed health decisions. In our family, we use nutrition, nutritional supplements, exercise and chiropractic to stay healthy. For those are the key ingredients in creating wellness.

Mindarie Chiropractor Dr. Kimberli Beggs
My name is Kimberli Beggs and I joined the team here at Mindarie Chiropractic Centre this year to help Dr Natasha Lake who is now enjoying motherhood. I was born and raised in tropical Darwin. I would like to say that I was lucky to have a healthy childhood but in fact I suffered a lot of childhood illnesses, such as severe eczema, asthma and allergies and I was always on some form of medication in attempt to "treat" these problems. With the knowledge I have now, it is clear that my nervous system was under a lot of stress. Growing up constantly bouncing on trampolines, stacking bikes, climbing trees (and falling out of them) swinging off ropes into rivers, falling out of bunk beds and getting chased by wild horses, it is easy to see why! Having never really achieved true relief with all the medications I was on as a child, my interest in alternative therapies was generated in highschool when a few of my friends told me they were seeing a chiropractor.
I also found it facinating learning how the human body works and I wanted to learn more. During my final year of high school I researched more on Chiropractic and was intrigued enough to apply to study it at university.
I had my very first adjustment at age 16 by a Chiropractor in Darwin and I knew after then that I definitely wanted to be a Chiropractor. I was accepted in to both RMIT in Melbourne and Macquarie University in Sydney, but being from a small town I wanted to experience the big (or biggest) city life so I moved to Sydney in 2001. There I obtained a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science in 2003, which included the basic sciences such as inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and biology, along with basic physiology and anatomy courses, followed by a Master of Chiropractic, in 2006 which included studies in biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, radiology, neurology, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Macquarie University Chiropractic Outpatient Clinics. After 6 years of study I worked as an associate in a busy family practice in Camden NSW where I saw lots of families including babies, followed by an associateship in Sydney's Parramatta. After living away from my family for ten years I decided that I had had enough time in the big city, so I moved to Perth, a happy medium between Darwin and Sydney and where most of my family now live.
The greatest part about my job is helping people to feel their best and get the most out of life with what they have. It brings me great joy when people realise the value of a properly functioning nervous system so much so that they get their children checked too so that they can grow into their full potential. Here at Mindarie Chiropractic Centre we get a lot of children who get regular check ups because, well, kids will be kids!
I look forward to meeting you and seeing how much better you will function once you allow your body to work the way it was meant to.
Mindarie Chiropractor Dr. Conor Sexton

As a native Victorian I have moved to the West specifically to join this exciting team. I was born and raised in Melbourne, the youngest of five children, so you can imagine the scrapes we all got into! Some of the more memorable include; falling off a horse (Gen, concussion); sprained ankle (Jo, hockey match); sprained wrist (Maddie, big feet-very clumsy!); sore neck (Jacquie, gymnastics injury); jumping off the dressing table onto beanbags... and missing the beanbags (Me, broken arm). Luckily some of our parent’s friends, whose grown children were studying Chiropractic, suggested our parents take us to a chiropractor to treat these injuries. But that is where my journey in Chiropractic care only began. Having initially found Chiropractic helpful for treating these issues, as a family we began realising the deeper benefits of regular care. My Dads asthma improved to the point where he doesn’t need medication, our hay fever disappeared as did our yearly flu and we found ourselves to be healthier and more energetic.
These changes prompted a rethink in how health was viewed in my family. We realised that prevention is more effective than cure, that health was more than the absence of pain and disease and that to achieve real health requires us all to be proactive. So from the age of five, chiropractic care became a regular feature in my life and I can honestly say that from that point on I have wanted to become a Chiropractor. That is except for the year when I planned to be an Australian Cricket player in the summer and play for North Melbourne in the winter...
After Graduating
After graduating from high school I entered the Chiropractic course at the RMIT University in Melbourne. In five years I completed a Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Clinical Chiropractic, graduating with Distinction. The course is an intense focus on anatomy, physiology, body structure and function, diagnosis, radiography, different adjusting techniques, nutrition, and rehabilitation. Through the study of these subjects I gained a deep appreciation of the complexity of the human body. Indeed, coming to understand our bodies as an intricate set of systems that continually impact on each other only reaffirmed my belief in chiropractic care and its holistic ethos. Whilst studying I also worked in a clinic in Bulleen and a community clinic in inner city Fitzroy where I enjoyed working with people on their journey to health. Upon graduating I began work as an Associate Chiropractor in Farrelly Chiropractic Clinic in Narre Warren. While there I thoroughly enjoyed working with patients to improve their health through regular chiropractic adjustments. I also enjoyed utilising my knowledge of nutrition and exercise to help them achieve their health goals.
Away from MCC
Outside of work I lead an active lifestyle. I love to play cricket, golf and hockey, all which are fairly stressfully on the body, combined with physicality of my job, I get adjusted once a week to keep my nervous system connected and to be at my optimum level.
The ability of the body to adapt, to heal itself and to function at its optimum is an incredible thing to witness. It never ceases to amaze me how health can be achieved when you take control of it. I look forward to being part of your health journey.
Thank you
